DESCRIPTION   OUR WINES   VISITING US
OUR AWARD WINNING WINES:

HAHN ESTATES 2002 MERLOT
The wine exhibits deeply colored garnet hues, very dark and inky. Black cherry, mocha, olive with a hint of cedar on the nose. A big, bright burst of fruit up front, mostly red fruits and cherry, followed by Merlot's characterisitc lushness aroung the top and back of the tongue. There is excellent acidity from the vintage that supports a solid grip of tannins in the back of the mouth. The acidity keeps the flavors alive along the finish. Serve with a marinated grilled flank steak with a lime chipotle sauce, a fresh fettucine with a rich tomato sauce, or perhaps with a classic meatloaf and roasted vegetables.

HAHN ESTATES 2002 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
The extraction of this wine is apparent at the outset. The wine displays a color reminiscent of what the Burmese cal ka-la-ngoh or "crying-Indian" ruby, characterized by an almost black color with crimson highlights. There is a fine balance on the nose of black cherry, anise, olive, and cedar. Rich, ripe and sweet flavors of dark fruits, raspberry, and hard candies that finish with a whiff of tobacco. The tannins have a fine but firm grip and are suspended by the acid core that stays in the mouth through the finish. Since I now live in an Atkin's-friendly household, I get to try my wines with a variety of wonderful meats. Try a rack of lamb with a sundried cherry sauce or perhaps medellions with cranberry dijon chutney.

HAHN ESTATES 2001 CABERNET FRANC
Coffee from the oak combines with the characteristic chocolate of the grape to present a distinctive mocha character on the nose, underscored with cedar and olives. A very rich array of bright, red fruits up front lead into raspberry hard candy and cherry-cola. There is a cold core of acidity which you can feel from the mid-palate long into the finish. Soft dusty tannins provide just enough grip to coat the back and sides of the mouth. There is a neat, mouth watering characteristic about this wine that I really like which makes it an easy pair with food. Ravioli with tomato sauce is a match made in gastronomical heaven. Trust me. I also like this wine as a pair for any fowl dishes with fruit marinades such as grilled, raspberry red wine marinated Cornish hens, or grilled breast of Muscovy Duck with dried cherry-blood orange sauce

HAHN ESTATES 2002 MERITAGE
The complex Bordeaux blend starts with cedar, cassis, and cherry on the nose. Intense black cherry fruit that turns sweet and lush with flavors of raspberry and vanilla by mid-palate. Tannins are soft and seem to play a supporting role to the fruit but become more pronounced towards the back of the mouth. For all of the suppleness, there is a solid seam of acidity that holds everything together and keeps the flavors going long into the finish. This is a food-friendly wine that could pair with a number of different styles. Try this wine with baby-back ribs smothered in a tangy barbecue sauce, broiled filet mignon, in a balsamic/port reduction, or a hearty pasta marinara.
Hahn Estates 2002 Meritage
SMITH & HOOK 2001 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
A well-integrated wine with enough power and structure to age gracefully. Fragrant aromatics of cedar, cassis, olives and reasberries. Rich and mouth-filling flavors of currant, blueberries, black cherries, and chocolate. Deep fruit framed by lush tannins and a solid grip in the mid-palate. A bright seam of acidity supports the fruit and keeps the flavors alive through the long finish. This is a red meat wine. Serve it with a broiled tenderloin dish or, if you are feeling creative, try venison with a port or Cabernet reduction, or perhaps a bufalo burger with all of the fixings.
Smith & Hook 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon
