        Recreation: More than 600 species and varieties of Monterey County wildflowers are collected, identified, and organized by members of the Monterey Bay Chapter of the California Native Plant Society during the week prior to this special event. The flowers are then displayed by family, with identification cards for each flower giving its common and scientific name, as well as information about its occurrence in Monterey County. This event is held annually at the height of the wildflower season, and wildflower field trips to remote areas will be conducted by the California Native Plant Society.
